$1.1 MILLION SETTLEMENT FOR SURVIVORS OF COUPLE KILLED IN AUTO ACCIDENT
A husband and wife were seriously injured in Overland Park, Kansas when the driver of a vehicle exited the parking lot of a liquor store and collided with their vehicle. Sadly, within several months, both the husband and wife had died.
A wrongful death suit was filed, contending that the injuries sustained in the automobile accident caused, or contributed to, their deaths. This suit sought compensation for their surviving family members. There was evidence that the other driver had been drinking and was on prescription medication at the time of the collision. After a hard-fought battle with the defense counsel and the insurance carrier representing the negligent driver, the case was settled in mediation on behalf of the adult children of the victims for a total sum of $1.1 million USD.
